YOUTH BOOST SEMINAR


UP Gimpong spearheads youth empowerment seminar in Kalinga

The University of the Philippines Gimpong, an organization of Kalinga Students studying in UP Diliman, spearheaded a youth empowerment seminar entitled "Youth Boost: Empowering the Kalinga Youth for Excellence" last October 28, 2006 at the Christina Hall, Davidson Hotel, Bulanao, Tabuk, Kalinga.

Graced by three excellent i-Kalinga speakers, the seminar deliberated three captivating topics, which were actively interacted on by about 29 college and high school participating students.

Julius Busway, mathematics instructor at UP Los Banos, discussed explicitly on the intriguing topic "Identity Crisis: Who is the Kalinga Youth? ".

On the theme "The Youth's Home: An appreciation to Kalinga's rich land", Provincial Tourism Officer Grace Kidang delivered an enthralling presentation of what Kalinga has that the youth must value.

Ethel Joy Agaid imparted her thesis to expound "The Growing Youth: An Understanding on the Kalinga Youth's growth". Her thesis, which was conducted in Bulanao sometime in 2005, was a nominee for the best thesis award at the Department of Behavioral Sciences 2005 thesis presentations in UP Manila.

The seminar was sponsored by Davidson Hotel, SK Provincial Federation, GnF General Merchandise, Nebo Internet Café, Almora General Hospital, Getwell Drugstore, Dong-as Medical Clinic, Northern Star Cable Network, Drs. Jaime and Carolyn Almora, and Ms. Hannah Mae Dong-as.

UP Gimpong, whose goal is to promote good and progressive education in Kalinga for the attainment of sustainable development and progress in the province, is duly recognized by the UP Administration.
